The use of apps has become ubiquitous in society and in health care. People use their mobile devices to communicate, learn and inform themselves, family and friends for just about all aspects of daily life.
According to the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC), nearly all Californians use the Internet. Social networking now rivals the purchase of goods and services as the top Internet activity. More than half go online for health or medical information or to do banking or manage finances. Nearly half look for information about a job or access government resources.
Most Internet users go online several times a day and access the Internet from someplace other than home or work.
The use of smartphones has increased across all political, regional, and demographic groups.
Associations have increasingly embraced members’ affinity for smartphones and apps, using them to put resources and benefits at members’ fingertips. For example, AMDA introduced a new app last year that is available to members and non-members at no cost, but that has additional features available for members.
CALTCM has joined the chorus and will soon be releasing our own app available for both IOS and Android. Through the CALTCM App, you will stay informed, communicate and collaborate with other CALTCM members and engage in direct advocacy for the clinical quality of care in post-acute and long-term care medicine. The CALTCM app will become an integral part of our efforts to engage and interact with members.
As part of our strategy to deliver consistent information and access to CALTCM, the app will be a direct and significant member-facing tool. Building an app is also a far more cost-effective tool and will be a much more dynamic communication tool compared to a static website.
The app will be a tool where members can discover and access new information and take advantage of features, such as:
- News
- Member Profiles & Directory
- Notifications
- Messaging
- Forums
- Events
- Resources
Member engagement, resource sharing and communication is a priority for CALTCM and the app. With the app, CALTCM hopes to increase and elevate our member experience.
CALTCM looks forward to the release of the app and looks forward to engaging with you through the tool soon.
