Taste of AMDA Annual Meeting

As an in-the-trenches clinician, I have come away from each CALTCM and AMDA annual meeting with my “batteries” recharged and with new ideas for improving patient and facility care. Going to these meetings has introduced me to many thought leaders in our setting who gladly rub shoulders with attendees and make time for curbside consults.  These are truly “family” events.

Unfortunately, these events only occur about once a year.  The new podcasts, ”AMDA on the Go” (AOTG) have had a similar recharging effect. They are produced twice a month, last about 25 minutes, and are easy to access.  More importantly, from a budget perspective, they are “Free.” Dr. Wayne Saltsman reminds the listener that these podcasts are designed for frontline workers in the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care settings, whom he refers to as “Joe AMDA”.   In addition, these podcasts qualify for ABPLM (CMD) credits for certification or recertification upon request.

In the past month, Dr. Rajeev Kumar was interviewed regarding implementing PDPM (Patient Driven Payment Model) and our CALTCM President, Dr. Mike Wasserman, was interviewed regarding Physician Leadership in Skilled Nursing Homes.  AMDA President Elect and former CALTCM President Dr. Karl Steinberg also recently did an AOTG podcast on advance care planning and POLST.

You can most easily download these podcasts on your smartphone (Apple or Droid) by downloading the free Podbean app.  Once you have done that, use the search icon for “AMDA on the Go”. Download and you’re good to go. I listen to them on my earbuds or in my truck/car radio via bluetooth connection with my smartphone.

If you prefer to listen to these podcasts on your computer, you can easily do so via this link:  https://paltc.org/podcast

Enjoy!
