CALTCM is proud to announce that it has received an award from CDPH's Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Program. Our project, the Leadership and Management in Geriatrics Infection Prevention and Control Leadership Program (LMG-IPC Strike Team) combines the methodology from two established CALTCM programs, CALTCM SNF 2.0® and CALTCM’s Leadership and Management in Geriatrics (LMG)®.

The program combines leadership training, Quality Assurance/Process Improvement (QAPI) exercises, and interactive team-based training to build cohesive leadership teams that will work collaboratively and effectively to improve processes critical to the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centered care. Through its intensive curriculum and a series of interactive webinars, this program will focus on emergency preparedness and infection prevention, with an emphasis on protecting those with dementia and other behavioral conditions in nursing homes.

Facility leadership teams are expected to include the Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Administrator, Infection Preventionist, and Director of Staff Development. Leadership Teams will participate in the initial training program featuring a proven, evidence-based curriculum that incorporates virtual learning and mentorship. Participants will engage in webinars and mentorship/coaching sessions to achieve sustainability of the principles taught, and to provide the additional training necessary to strengthen team building skills.

Eligible nursing homes must meet the following criteria:

  • Located in California, and outside of Los Angeles County.
  • Have a facility rating of 1 or 2 stars.
