CMS Reform of Requirements for Long-Term Care Facilities Proposed Rule

CMS Reform of Requirements for Long-Term Care Facilities Proposed Rule

September 11, 2015

Dear AMDA Members:

As you know, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a proposed rule, Medicare and Medicaid Programs: Reform of Requirements for Long-Term Care Facilities. This is the most comprehensive revision of the rules since 1991 and it adds new requirements and revises other existing regulations. CMS extended the comment period another 30 days until October 14, 2015.

AMDA has drafted comments on this rule for submission to CMS . We are sharing with you a summary of what we believe are the more clinically pertinent comments. We urge you to send in either your own personal comments and/or comments on behalf of your state chapter organizations. This can simply be a letter on how these changes would affect you as a Medical Director, long-term care clinician, your facilities and most importantly your patients. The more CMS hears from long-term care practitioners and providers the better. Volume matters! (View comments at http://www.amda.com/advocacy/amda-comments-nih-rop-summary-2015-09.pdf)

To submit your comments to CMS click here and either input comments in the text box or attach your comments in Word or PDF (attaching recommended). Comments are now due October 14, 2015.
